In case you haven’t heard, J.K. Rowling’s next book “The Tales of Beedle the Bard” is scheduled for release on December 4, 2008.
This book contains all five wizardly fairy tales left to Hermione Grandger by Albus Dumbledore in the seventh and final book in the Harry Potter series. Only one, The Tale of the Three Brothers, is actually recounted in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. The other four are revealed here for the very first time.
A phenomenon like Harry Potter doesn’t come along very often. The young wizard and his eager companions Hermoine Granger and Ron Weasley have inspired countless children to delve into reading with a fervor rarely seen, and we have J.K. Rowling to thank for that! Rowling has created a fantastic world of wizards and muggles, ghosts and trolls, and good and evil that has completely revitalized a love of reading in both kids and adults all over the world.
This newest book in the Harry Potter series is being produced to raise money for J.K. Rowling’s charity The Children’s High Level Group. Amazon.com, Inc. bought rights to the handwritten book of fairy tales for just under $4 million, and will be publishing it in December.
The Children’s High Level Group said that it plans to publish three different editions of the book, all in English, and will be printed and distributed by Bloomsbury, Scholastic and Amazon.com. The Bloomsbury and Scholastic editions, will be priced at 6.99 pounds and $12.99 respectively, will include an introduction by J.K. Rowling herself and commentary on each fairy tale by Albus Dumbledore, the beloved headmaster of Hogwarts.
Amazon plans to produce up to 100,000 copies of a special collector’s edition that will mimic the look and feel of the handwritten original, this special collector’s edition is said to be priced at $100.00. And editions from all 3 publishers will go on sale Dec. 4th, 2008.
In case you haven’t read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows yet, I would highly recommend it.
